In South Africa, traditional Zulu beadwork designs relate to courtship and marriage. The combination and arrangement of colors can denote the marital status of a woman or it can be used as a system of identifying individuals who can be approached for courtship.

We’ve taken this idea and incorporated it into a handmade beaded bookmark that makes a great personalized gift. Each bookmark measures 2" x 6" and includes an explanation of the meanings of the colors on the back.

In the language of beads, yellow means, “He is handsome enough for me”.
